Mike cultivated and developed Gooch Auction Group through the sale of literally hundreds of properties using a tried and true method of selling real estate at auction.
Now Gooch Auction Group is lead by its Acting Principal Broker Rony Jo Ballou accompanied by auctioneers Gregory Johnson and H.D Prewitt. Together the team makes up a highly regarded and respected auction group in the Central Kentucky region.
Mike conducted his first auction around the age of eight from his barn loft selling his dad’s calves to his community barnyard buddies. From there he graduated to Future Farmers of America winning the very first FFA auction competition he entered in 1983 at the age of 15.
While attending the University of Kentucky he was licensed as an apprentice in 1989, working weekends he served a 4 year tutelage under Jessamine County’s premier auctioneer, Col. Harlan Veal Sr. Working diligently paying his dues and honing his auction skills, he worked every Saturday at a farm auction and every Saturday night in some smoky auction house.
It was truly a labor of love and he completely enjoyed every step of the way since his adolescent days as a young Auctioneer. He has sold everything from mini-horses to automobiles to fine antiques at auction. For the last ten years he focused mostly on the art of selling real estate at auction.
